La Cava is a small settlement in the Baix Ebre comarca of Catalonia, and by 1937 even municipalities of this size were issuing their own emergency fractional currency — the Republican government's wartime decree authorizing local paper money had effectively collapsed the distinction between a town and a bank. Hundreds of Catalan ajuntaments printed notes that never circulated beyond a few kilometers, and most were redeemed, destroyed, or simply abandoned before the war ended.

Turró catalogues this as #791, placing it deep in a series of deeply provincial emissions. Surviving examples are scarce simply because so few were printed to begin with.
