The truncation bears the engraver's initials L.M. The circular legend reads ISABEL 2ª POR LA G. DE DIOS Y LA CONST., divided by two pellets, with the date 1868 displayed in the lower exergue between two pellets. The portrait is rendered in fine neoclassical style with a toothed border surrounding the entire design. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The quartered royal coat of arms of Spain, comprising castles and lions in the four quarters with a central escutcheon bearing the fleur-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty, surmounted by the royal crown. Flanking the shield on either side are the Pillars of Hercules, each wrapped with a ribbon scroll inscribed PLUS (left) and ULTRA (right). The upper legend REINA DE LAS ESPANAS arcs around the field, while the denomination 50 CS. DE PESO appears in the lower segment between two six-pointed stars.
