Opmerkingen

Huesa is a small municipality in the province of Jaén, Andalusia, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally-issued emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after the Republic's small-denomination coinage essentially vanished from circulation in 1936. These municipal issues — cartones, as they were often called — were produced under wildly varying conditions, sometimes printed by local printers on whatever stock was available, sometimes handwritten or rubber-stamped entirely.

The Gari Monovar catalog documents the extraordinary breadth of this phenomenon across Republican-held territory. The 773-B suffix indicates a cataloged variant within the Huesa series, though the municipality's output was small enough that surviving examples in any condition are genuinely uncommon.
