The 1937–38 municipal issues from Guadalajara are among hundreds of local emergency emissions that proliferated across Republican-held towns — a direct consequence of hoarding and the disruption of normal coin supply from Madrid. This 2003 piece is a commemorative replica produced by the FNMT, the same state institution that prints Spain's current legal tender.
