Opmerkingen

Garrucha is a small fishing port on the Almería coast — its wartime municipal scrip exists because the Spanish Civil War severed normal currency supply lines to Republican-held towns throughout 1936–37. Local councils, trade unions, and even individual businesses across the Republican zone were forced to produce their own emergency fractional notes to keep commerce moving when coin disappeared from circulation entirely.

The Consejo Municipal issues from this series are among the more obscure Almería provincial pieces. Survival rates for small-denomination Republican municipal scrip are generally poor — much was redeemed or simply discarded after the Nationalist takeover of the province in 1939.
