Opmerkingen

Formentera del Segura is a small agricultural municipality in the Vega Baja del Segura, Alicante province, and this note is a product of the Republican zone's acute small-change crisis of 1936–37. With silver coinage hoarded and the central government unable to supply sufficient fractional currency to rural areas, hundreds of Valencian and Murcian municipalities printed their own emergency paper — locally called *vales* or *moneda local* — often with nothing more sophisticated than a rubber stamp for authentication. The official stamp here is the entire security apparatus.

Gari Mon#665-B suggests a catalogued variant, likely distinguished from 665-A by stamp color, ink, or a minor typographic difference — Formentera del Segura issues are scarce enough that variant distinctions remain poorly documented.
