Castellterçol is a small municipality in the Moianès comarca of Catalonia, and its 1937 emergency fractional notes belong to the enormous wave of locally-issued paper produced during the Spanish Civil War when metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply unavailable. Hundreds of Catalan municipalities printed their own small-denomination scrip under broadly similar circumstances, many through Barcelona's collectivized print shops.

Grafos, operating as a collectivized enterprise under CNT-FAI worker control by this point, handled an unusually large share of this municipal scrip work across the region.
