Castelló de Farfanya is a small municipality in the Noguera comarca of Lleida, and like hundreds of Catalan and Aragonese towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency when the Republic's coin supply collapsed after 1936. The Ajuntament here contracted Imprenta Unió Obrera in nearby Balaguer — a workers' collective print shop operating under CNT-influenced wartime reorganization — which itself tells you something about who controlled local economic life at that moment.
Turró catalogues this as #749, placing it within the dense web of Lleida provincial municipal issues, most of which had circulation lives measured in months before the Nationalist advance through Catalonia in early 1938 rendered them worthless.
