Cardedeu is a small Catalan town northeast of Barcelona, and like hundreds of other Catalan municipalities in 1937, its local council issued its own fractional emergency currency after the Republic's coin supply collapsed in the early months of the Civil War. These ajuntament notes — collectively known as paper moneda local — were authorized under the Generalitat de Catalunya's emergency monetary decrees and printed in enormous variety across the region.
Gràfiques Unificades in Granollers handled a substantial portion of the local commissions from the surrounding Vallès Oriental comarca. The Turró catalogue remains the authoritative reference for this material, and 669 places this squarely within a well-documented but heavily collected series where condition varies sharply.
