Camporrobles is a small municipality in Valencia province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. These consejos de administración had no formal monetary authority; necessity invented the mandate.
The Turró and Gari Montserrat references place this within the exhaustively catalogued world of Spanish guerra civil local issues, where survival rates vary wildly by town. Camporrobles produced very limited quantities, and the thick card stock construction was a practical response to the absence of proper banknote paper.
