Callús is a small municipality in the Bages comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of similarly sized towns, it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the Republic's central banking system collapsed into near-paralysis. These local notes — known collectively as moneda de necessitat — were produced to keep commerce moving when coins disappeared into hoarding and melting. The Imprenta Rodergas in nearby Súria printed for several Bages municipalities, which occasionally creates attribution confusion between issues.

Turró 609 is among the less-documented emissions from the comarca. Pere Brú signed as Alcalde President, a title reflecting the wartime reorganization of local government under Republican authority.
