备注

One of hundreds of municipal emergency issues produced across Republican-held Catalonia during the Civil War, when the collapse of small-denomination coinage — largely hoarded or melted — forced individual towns to print their own fractional currency. Calella, a small coastal town north of Barcelona, had no special claim to monetary authority; the Generalitat de Catalunya simply couldn't supply enough coin to keep local commerce moving, and municipalities filled the gap themselves.

Printed locally by V. Pedemonte, which was Calella's own press. These hyper-local issues rarely left their town of origin and were typically withdrawn once the supply crisis eased, which is why survival rates vary sharply between neighboring municipalities.
