Opmerkingen

Cabrera d'Anoia is a small municipality in the Alt Penedès comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of Catalan and Aragonese towns, it issued its own small-denomination emergency paper money during the Spanish Civil War — a direct consequence of the hoarding and disappearance of metallic coin after July 1936. These municipal emissions, collectively known as *moneda local* or *paper moneda*, were often produced with whatever printing resources the local council had to hand, which accounts for the heavy card stock frequently seen in the smaller denominations.

Turró's catalog remains the essential reference for this sprawling series of local issues.
