| Additional information |
Bràfim is a village in the Camp de Tarragona comarca with a population that barely reached 600 during the 1930s, yet like hundreds of Catalan municipalities it was forced to produce its own emergency fractional currency after the Republican government's coin supply collapsed in the early months of the Civil War. The Generalitat de Catalunya authorized local issues in 1937 precisely because the hoarding of metallic coinage had gutted everyday commerce. Cardboard was the material of necessity — cheap, locally available, and utterly unsuited to sustained handling.
The multiple Turró and Garí references suggest at least two distinct emission varieties exist for this denomination, differing in detail sufficient to warrant separate catalog numbers.
