Benavites is a small municipality in the Valencia province, and like hundreds of similarly sized Republican-held towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency in 1937 to address an acute shortage of small change — a problem that plagued the entire Republican zone as coin hoarding and supply disruption gutted everyday commerce. These hyper-local emissions were sanctioned under a broader Republican framework but designed, printed, and validated entirely at the municipal level, which accounts for the wide variation in material quality across the series.

The handstamp is the only security feature, applied locally to authenticate each piece. Gari Mon#281-B distinguishes this as a specific variant within the Benavites emission.
