Baget is among the smallest municipalities in Catalonia — historically fewer than a hundred inhabitants — which makes this note one of the more extreme examples of Spain's wartime *moneda local* phenomenon. During the Civil War, the Republican government's inability to maintain coin supply pushed hundreds of Catalan townships, including genuinely tiny ones like Baget, to issue their own fractional currency through whatever local printing resources were available.
Imprenta Anglada in nearby Camprodon handled emergency issues for several surrounding municipalities, which is why notes from this cluster share recognizable typographic characteristics despite different issuing authorities.
