Baix Montseny was not a municipality but a comarca-level grouping in the Vallès Oriental, and its wartime emergency scrip was printed locally by Gràfiques Unificades n.º 2 — one of the collectivized print shops operating under CNT-FAI control during the Civil War. The printer's own name embeds that political reality: "Unificades" signals the anarcho-syndicalist collectivization of the graphic trades that swept Catalonia after July 1936.
These small-denomination vales de necesidad filled a genuine gap — Republican silver and copper coinage had vanished almost immediately into hoarding, leaving village economies to improvise. Turró catalogues hundreds of such emissions, but the Baix Montseny issues are among the more obscure, produced for a limited geographic circulation and rarely exported beyond the immediate comarca.
