| Opmerkingen |
Azuara is a small municipality in Zaragoza province, and this note is a product of the fractional currency chaos that swept Republican-held Spain in 1936–37, when the hoarding of metal coins left local councils scrambling to print their own low-denomination scrip. The Consejo Municipal — not a bank, not a regional authority — issued these céntimos simply to make change.
Seix i Barral is better known as a literary publisher than a printer of emergency currency, but their Barcelona facilities took on considerable wartime scrip work during this period. Azuara itself fell to Nationalist forces in mid-1937, making the circulation window for this issue extremely brief.
