Obverse description The obverse features the denomination '50 CTS.' prominently in large raised numerals at the centre of the field, with 'DE' inscribed above. The circular legend 'AJUNTAMENT DE L'AMETLLA DEL VALLÈS' runs along the outer perimeter, separated by small star ornaments. The overall design is plain and utilitarian, consistent with the emergency coinage issues of the Spanish Civil War period.

Additional information

Issued during the anarchist-influenced phase of the Spanish Civil War, when the Republican zone faced a near-total collapse of small-denomination coinage — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. Hundreds of Catalan municipalities stepped into the void in 1937, striking their own emergency issues in whatever metals were available. Aluminium was the default: cheap, easy to work, and wholly unsuited to circulation, which is why survivors in decent condition are far more common than the chaotic circumstances of their origin might suggest.

Turró's catalog distinguishes at least two varieties for this municipality; the 2.1 designation points to a specific die pairing.
