备注

Alhambra is a small municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, Castile–La Mancha, and this 50 céntimos note is a product of the acute small-change crisis that paralyzed Republican-held Spain in the early months of the Civil War. As silver and copper coins were hoarded or melted, hundreds of Spanish municipalities were forced to print their own emergency fractional currency — a chaotic but practically necessary response to a collapsing monetary infrastructure.

The thick card stock construction was deliberate: flimsier paper degraded quickly in daily retail use, and municipal authorities with no printing expertise often turned to whatever heavier stock was locally available.
