Alcampel is a small municipality in the Huesca province of Aragon, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local agricultural syndicate issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage vanished almost entirely from circulation after 1936. The Sindicato Agrícola — a collectivized farming cooperative — had neither a treasury nor a printing house behind it, yet local necessity forced the issue.
These Aragonese syndicate notes were produced in conditions that make consistent print quality essentially impossible to guarantee. Paper stock, ink, and even typefaces varied between batches within the same issuer.
