Beschrijving keerzijde Large numeral '50' dominates the central field in bold relief, with the denomination legend CENTIMOS inscribed immediately below in a curved arrangement. The numerals and legend are framed by a wreath of two olive or laurel branches rising symmetrically from the base, tied at the foot with a ribbon bow. The overall composition is simple and well-centered, making effective use of the scalloped flan.

Aanvullende informatie

Paraguay's 1953 coinage program was issued under the Stroessner regime, which had seized power just the year before in a May 1954 coup — though preparatory mint contracts and die work for this series predated the takeover, placing the authorization squarely under Federico Chaves's ousted government. The nickel brass alloy chosen here was a pragmatic response to postwar metal costs, mirroring similar compositional decisions across Latin America during the early 1950s as silver was abandoned for base metal substitutes.
