| Reverse description | The reverse is organised around a recessed square cartouche set within the dodecagonal flan, its corners adorned with concave cusped lobes filled with arabesques. Within the cartouche, the denomination '50' is displayed in large bold numerals at centre, flanked on the right by the inscription 'CEN- / TIMES' in two lines. Above the numeral, the Arabic legend reads the value in Arabic script, and below, a further Arabic inscription denotes 'centimes'. The word 'ESSAI' appears in small lettering at the base of the central field, confirming the trial or pattern status of this piece. The border between the cartouche and the coin's edge is filled with a continuous band of scrolling foliate ornament conforming to each of the twelve sides. |
