The star and surrounding ornamental design are enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which further decorative scrollwork fills the field. The Latin legend EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs along the upper periphery, while the Arabic inscription الإمبراطورية الشريفة (Al-Imbaraturiyya al-Sharifah) appears along the lower periphery. The overall design reflects the Franco-Moroccan artistic tradition of the Sherifian coinage. |
