Reverse description The denomination 50 C MES is displayed prominently in the upper central field, with the figure 50 to the left and the abbreviated CMES to its right. Below the denomination, a stylised spray of three palm fronds, bound at the base with a ribbon, fills the central field, flanked by two additional palm branches curving outward to either side. The circular legend TERRITOIRES·SOUS·MANDAT·DE·LA·FRANCE arcs around the upper periphery, while the territorial name ·TOGO· appears at the base, all separated by a beaded border. The overall design is bold and uncluttered, suited to colonial circulation coinage.

Additional information

Struck for France's League of Nations mandates in Togo and Cameroon following the post-WWI partition of Germany's colonial territories, these coins were among the first purpose-struck issues for those administered regions. The "Territoires sous mandat" designation was a deliberate legal distinction — mandate territories were not colonies in the formal sense, and French authorities were technically accountable to the League for their administration.

The series ran only three years before being supplanted, leaving a narrow mintage window.
