Obverse description Circular aluminium capsule with a raised inner ring enclosing the place name NOUMÉA in bold relief lettering across the central field. The outer legend reads BANQUE DE L'INDO-CHINE around the full circumference, separated from the inner ring by a flat annular border. A small mintmark device appears at the base of the legend. The overall design is stark and functional, consistent with emergency wartime token coinage.

Reverse description The reverse presents the encapsulated French colonial postage stamp of New Caledonia, denominated 50 centimes, printed in red on a red background and sealed within the embossed aluminium casing. The stamp legend around the design reads POSTES RF NOUVELLE CALEDONIE ET DEPENDANCES, identifying the issuing territory and postal authority.
