| Obverse description | A central oval cartouche in yellow carries the face value with the serial number at its base, enclosed within elaborate illuminated borders characteristic of the period's letterpress craftsmanship. Five coats-of-arms representing the principal towns of the Aisne department are distributed around the circumference, interspersed with ornamental vignettes. A circular legend surrounding the central device bears the issuing chamber's name alongside the town designations: Saint-Quentin, Soissons, Château-Thierry, Vervins, and Laon. |
