| Beschrijving voorzijde | Dark blue letterpress on cream paper, the central field enclosed within an ornate oval frame surmounted by a foliate monogram medallion, with the denomination '50' repeated in circular cartouches at left and right. The legend 'CINQUANTE CENTIMES' in bold capitals crowns a vignette of the city arms supported by two allegorical figures within an acanthus garland. A repeated 'CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE ROANNE' text underprint fills the background, with the serial number presented in a ruled box at the foot. |

| Opmerkingen |
French chambers of commerce were authorized to issue emergency small-denomination paper money in August 1914, almost immediately after mobilization stripped the country of coined silver and copper. Roanne's chamber was among the earliest provincial issuers, and the 50 centimes notes appeared in 1915 as the coin shortage showed no sign of resolving. These issues circulated locally as a matter of practical necessity — not monetary policy from Paris, but a stop-gap organized at the departmental level.
The JP reference covers four distinct varieties under a single type, differentiated by serial letter combinations and minor typographic changes across printings by Bourg et Cie.
