The Cross of Lorraine, symbol of the Free French Forces, dominates the centre of the field, flanked on either side by decorative foliate scrolls. Above the cross, a curved ribbon banner carries the legend 'LIBERTE·EGALITE·FRATERNITE' in two lines, while 'HONNEUR' appears at the left and 'PATRIE' at the right along the inner periphery. The denomination '50 Cmes' is inscribed to the lower right of the cross, with the date '1943' in the exergue flanked by small floral ornaments, and the engraver's initials 'C.L.S' appear below the cross. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border. |
