Beschrijving voorzijde A young girl with long flowing hair is depicted in the central field, seated and holding a rag doll aloft in her raised right hand. The figures are rendered in moderate relief with a naturalistic artistic style evocative of childhood innocence. The circular legend reads REPUBLICA ARGENTINA along the upper periphery, with the motto EN UNION Y LIBERTAD inscribed along the lower periphery, both separated by small decorative dots.

Aanvullende informatie

Argentina issued this piece as part of UNICEF's 50th anniversary commemorations in 1996, a year when the country was still navigating the aftershocks of the 1994 Tequila Crisis, which had hammered Argentine peso reserves and renewed public anxiety about the currency board peg established under Convertibility. Circulating commemoratives of this kind were an inexpensive gesture toward international goodwill during a period of fiscal constraint.

Mintage was substantial and circulation was wide; survivors in choice condition are common.
