Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is entirely blank, presenting a flat, unadorned planchet surface with no design, legend, or device of any kind. This featureless field is consistent with the coin's classification as a reverse trial piece, produced to test the obverse die impression without a corresponding reverse design. The surface shows numerous contact marks and light scratches consistent with handling since striking.

Aanvullende informatie

Trial pieces for Nicaragua's 1912 coinage were produced by the Philadelphia Mint, which held the contract for the country's new national coinage following the period of monetary reorganization tied to American financial oversight of Nicaraguan affairs. The aluminium composition here marks this as a reverse trial — struck to assess die quality and design fidelity before committing to the production alloy, in this case silver. Philadelphia struck aluminium trials routinely as part of its quality control process for foreign government contracts.
