Additional information

The "Rendeira" 50 centavos belongs to the Cruzado Novo, a currency Brazil introduced in January 1989 as part of the Plano Verão stabilization package — itself the third major monetary intervention in under four years. Inflation was running above 1,000% annually, and the new denomination structure was already obsolete before the coins reached general circulation. The Cruzado Novo lasted barely eighteen months before being replaced by the Cruzeiro in March 1990 under the incoming Collor administration.

That compressed lifespan means genuine circulation wear is uncommon.
