Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the center of the field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus and devouring a serpent, rendered in finely detailed relief. A half-wreath composed of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the emblem. The circumferential legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs across the upper portion of the coin in Latin characters.
