50 Centavos Pattern

Argentina's monetary authorities spent much of the late 1930s and early 1940s debating a shift in coinage metals, partly driven by wartime pressure on nickel supplies globally. This 1941 pattern was struck as a trial piece during that deliberation — the denomination was never issued in nickel for circulation, and the design direction explored here was ultimately abandoned. Pattern survivors from the Casa de Moneda's internal trials of this period are documented in very small quantities, with CJ#77 representing one of the few systematically catalogued survivors of that process.
