| 背面描述 | A right-facing allegorical bust of Liberty dominates the design, rendered in the classical French medallic tradition characteristic of engraver Lucien Georges Bazor. The denomination 50 CS appears to the left of the effigy, while the legend LIBERTAD is inscribed to the right. A laurel branch is depicted behind the figure. The word ESSAI, denoting pattern or trial status, and the engraver's name LUCIEN BAZOR appear as part of the reverse inscription, consistent with French essai coinage conventions. |

Argentina's monetary authorities were actively exploring nickel coinage in the late 1930s and early 1940s as a substitute for the cupronickel and aluminum-bronze alloys then in circulation, driven partly by wartime metal supply pressures. This 1940 pattern was never approved for circulation — the 50 centavos denomination ultimately continued in other compositions through the decade.
CJ#75.1 indicates Cristian Janson's attribution, the primary reference for Argentine patterns and essais. Surviving examples are almost exclusively from cabinet sources.
