Above the shield rises a volcan with rays and a castle tower, while below crossed cannons and a silver mine cart appear in the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS arcs along the upper periphery, with the secondary legend LIBRE, SOBERANA E INDEPENDIENTE 15 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1821 encircling the shield itself. The date of issue appears in the lower field below the arms. The coin's rim is defined by a continuous border of fine beading. |
