Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched in profile upon a prickly pear cactus, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The cactus rises from a rocky outcrop surrounded by water, with a wreath of oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon forming a partial border at the base of the device. The national legend arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, encircling the emblem in the customary heraldic presentation established for the New Peso series.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS
(Translation: United Mexican States)
