| 背面描述 | A ceiba tree, the national tree of Honduras, stands at center, dividing the denomination 50 C. on either side of its trunk. Crossed olive or laurel branches curve beneath the tree at the base of the design, while five-pointed stars are positioned at the upper left and right flanking the tree's canopy. The commemorative legend arcs around the upper and lower periphery, with the independence date 15 DE SET. 1821 and the silver fineness 0.900 inscribed along the lower exergual area. The motto DIOS UNION LIBERTAD appears as the primary circumferential legend. |

Honduras issued this coin in the immediate aftermath of a turbulent decade that had seen the country cycle through multiple constitutions and repeated military interventions. The 1879–1880 striking coincided with the presidency of Marco Aurelio Soto, a reformist installed largely at the behest of Guatemalan strongman Justo Rufino Barrios, who retained considerable leverage over Honduran affairs throughout this period. Soto's administration was actively attempting to modernize the national economy and attract foreign investment, particularly from British mining interests in the silver-rich interior.
Mintage figures for this type are not well documented, and surviving examples in any grade above Fine are genuinely scarce.
