Obverse description Green-tinted note with a circular vignette at upper left enclosing a rearing horse group, flanked by the Argentine national arms at upper centre and a pastoral scene with horses and figures at upper right. The large bold denomination numeral '50' appears in each corner within ornate lathe-work frames. The issuer's name 'EL BANCO NACIONAL' is printed in large display lettering across the centre, with the place and date 'Buenos Ayres, Agosto 12, 1873' in script above. A red serial number is overprinted across the centre of the note, and the series letter 'A' appears at lower centre.

Reverse description Uniformly printed in green, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate geometric guilloche pattern composed of a large central medallion surrounded by twelve smaller circular vignettes, each containing a distinct provincial or allegorical coat of arms of the Argentine provinces. The denomination '50' appears in large numerals at the left and right, while the words 'CINCUENTA' and 'CENTAVOS' are inscribed in bold lettering at the top and bottom respectively within decorative borders.
