The central vignette is a circular guilloche medallion enclosing an intaglio eagle — the Mexican national arms — perched on a cactus with a serpent in its beak, surrounded by the inscriptions 'REPUBLICA MEXICANA' and 'GOBIERNO DEL ESTADO LIBRE Y SOBERANO DE SONORA'. Large numeral '50' with 'CENTAVOS' appears in ornate scroll-work panels to the left and right of the central medallion. The denomination 'CINCUENTA CENTAVOS' is inscribed in a solid panel at the top, and 'ESTADO DE SONORA' in a matching panel at the bottom. The printer's imprint 'AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY, NEW YORK.' appears at the base. |
