| Obverse description | The obverse features two facing busts in high relief at center: on the left, President Franklin D. Roosevelt facing right, and on the right, President Manuel L. Quezon of the Commonwealth of the Philippines facing left, their portraits nearly touching at the center of the field. Between the lower portions of the busts, a small cartouche bears the inauguration date NOVEMBER 15 1935. The circumscribed legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE PHILIPPINES arcs along the upper periphery, while FIFTY CENTAVOS is inscribed along the lower border, all rendered in bold Latin lettering within a raised rim. |
