Obverse description Central field displays the Nicaraguan national coat of arms, featuring an equilateral triangle enclosing five volcanic peaks rising from the sea beneath a radiant sun and a Phrygian cap, all rendered in fine detail. A beaded inner border frames the central device. The circular legend REPÚBLICA DE NICARAGUA reads along the upper arc and AMÉRICA CENTRAL along the lower arc, both separated by small dots at each side.

Reverse description The large numeral '50' occupies the upper portion of a raised central circle, with the denomination CENTAVOS inscribed immediately below in smaller lettering. A pair of crossed olive sprigs frames the lower half of the central circle. The national motto EN DIOS CONFIAMOS arcs along the upper periphery, while five small stars are evenly distributed along the lower periphery flanking the date 2007, which appears in the exergual area. A beaded border runs along the rim.
