Additional information

This series spans the final years of Juan Perón's first presidency and its violent aftermath — the 1955 coup that ousted him, the subsequent "Liberating Revolution," and the military government's immediate effort to erase Peronist iconography from public life. Coins from the later dates in this range were struck under a regime that had literally banned the public display of Perón's image and name. The multiple CJ reference numbers reflect die and surface finish variants documented across the run.
