Obverse description The Portuguese colonial arms — a quartered shield bearing the traditional quinas and the armillary sphere — is superimposed at center upon a stylized terrestrial globe rendered with meridian and parallel lines. The shield is surmounted by the Portuguese royal crown. The colonial legend COLONIA · DE · MOÇAMBIQUE curves along the upper periphery, while the date is positioned in the lower exergual area, flanked by small decorative stops. The entire design is contained within a dentilated border.
