| Obverse description | The Portuguese colonial arms — a quartered shield bearing the traditional quinas and the armillary sphere — is superimposed at center upon a stylized terrestrial globe rendered with meridian and parallel lines. The shield is surmounted by the Portuguese royal crown. The colonial legend COLONIA · DE · MOÇAMBIQUE curves along the upper periphery, while the date is positioned in the lower exergual area, flanked by small decorative stops. The entire design is contained within a dentilated border. |

| Reverse description | The large denomination numeral '50' occupies the central field in bold relief, with the word CENTAVOS inscribed in a curved legend immediately below. A small crown device appears above the numeral. The circular legend REPÚBLICA · PORTUGUESA runs along the upper and lateral periphery, separated by a single raised dot at the top. The reverse field is plain and smooth, and the coin is bordered by a dentilated rim consistent with the obverse. |
