| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Liberty, depicted as a female allegorical figure wearing a Phrygian cap with flowing hair, set against a plain field. The legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA arcs around the periphery, divided to the left and right of the bust respectively. The date appears in the lower exergual area below the truncation. The portrait is rendered in a bold, sculptural style characteristic of early twentieth-century Portuguese Republican coinage. A beaded border runs along the inner rim. |
