Beschrijving voorzijde	Dark blue note with a central vignette of Mercury and a sailing ship at left, flanked by a farmer and an allegorical female figure at right; the Portuguese colonial arms appear at upper center. The composition is framed by fine guilloche borders with denomination numerals at corners. Text inscriptions identify the issuing bank, colony, and date of issue.

Beschrijving keerzijde	Brown note centered on a large vignette of a full-rigged sailing ship within an ornate guilloche frame; denomination numerals "50" appear in circular cartouches at each corner, and the Portuguese colonial arms are displayed within a decorative surround at lower center. The bank title and denomination legend in full are set in letterpress above and across the central vignette respectively.
