Aversbeschreibung	The Salvadoran national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a volcanic landscape and ocean scene, surmounted by a Phrygian helmet radiating sunbeams, and flanked by five national flags and laurel and palm branches. The shield is supported at the base by crossed cannons and a bundle of fasces tied with a ribbon. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL SALVADOR arcs around the upper periphery, while the fineness mark 900, the mint mark C.A.M., and the date 1892 appear in the lower field. The entire design is framed by a beaded border.

Zusätzliche Informationen	The 1892 coinage of El Salvador was issued to mark the quatercentenary of Columbus's 1492 voyage, the same commemorative impulse that drove numerous Latin American republics to reform or reissue their coinage that year. El Salvador had only recently stabilized its monetary system following the Currency Law of 1883, which pegged the peso to silver and displaced the earlier reales-based accounting. KM#112 was struck at the San Francisco Mint under contract — a common arrangement for Central American nations lacking domestic minting capacity in this period.
