The centre of the note bears an engraved vignette of the Spanish Royal coat of arms — crowned shield with quartered heraldic devices resting on two globes — flanked by the handwritten promise-to-pay text in ornate script reading that the Banco Español de la Habana will pay the bearer Cincuenta Centavos in cash, dated Habana, 1º de Julio de 1872. A large guilloche medallion carrying the numeral 50 occupies the right field, while dense lathe-work borders frame all four sides with repeated denomination inscriptions at top and bottom. |
