Obverse description The Guatemalan national coat of arms is centrally displayed within a beaded inner circle, depicting a quartered shield with a radiating sun above the upper half and three volcanoes over water in the lower half, flanked on either side by draped laurel branches tied at the base with a bow. A small floral ornament appears at the bottom of the inner circle. The circular legend * REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA encircles the design within the beaded border, with a five-petaled rosette serving as a separator at the lower field.
