Opmerkingen

The Banco Comercial de Corrientes was one of several provincial banks operating in Argentina during the 1860s, a period when the national government had not yet asserted meaningful control over currency issuance. Corrientes province maintained its own financial infrastructure well into this decade, and fractional notes like this 50 Centésimos filled a genuine transactional gap — small silver coinage was chronically scarce in the interior provinces, forcing reliance on paper at denominations most central banks considered unworthy of issue.

Printed in Buenos Aires rather than locally, which was the practical reality for any provincial issuer wanting competent lithographic work at this period.
